The game of Tens or Better video poker is
basically five-card draw poker played with a standard 52-card
deck with no Joker. The object of the game is
to form the highest possible winning poker hand. All
winning hands and their payoffs are listed on the machine
and explained below. The deck is reshuffled after each
hand.
Bets:
Tens or Better video poker is played with 25¢, 50¢, $1 and
$5 coins and the player can choose to bet one to five coins per hand. The minimum bet
is 25¢ (one 25¢ coin) and the maximum
is $25 (five $5 coins). Coins
of different value cannot be mixed in the same wager.
The Game:
The game is played in two
rounds of cards. After the wager is placed, a first round of five cards
is dealt to the player. Then he or she selects some of them by clicking
on the "HOLD" buttons under the chosen cards. In the second round the
machine replaces all the "unheld" (discarded) cards with new ones and
the final poker hand is formed with previously held cads plus the new
ones. If the player succeeds making a winning
hand, the prize flashes on the screen,
while the winnings drop into the coin bucket,
and the player's account balance is automatically increased by the amount
of the prize.
Prizes:
Prizes are paid in coins of the same
value of the coins wagered. For the same hand, prizes
increase accordingly with the number of coins betted. For
example, a Royal Flush will win 800 coins of 25¢ value
($200) if the bet was one 25¢ coin, while the same
hand would win 4000 coins of $5 value ($20,000) if the bet
was 5 $5 coins. The prizes for all the winning hands are shown on the
screen and are also shown in the table below.
Odds:
Odds in draw video poker cannot be
predicted because they depend on the player's actions. There's an element of skill in video
poker: Decisions of which cards to keep must be made
which, unlike slot machines, will determine whether and
how much you can win. The poker machines at the 4
Jacks Casino conform to the rules and
payoff regulations found in Las Vegas and casinos all around
the world.
